uwagi (Remarks)
![]() |
Sporocarps macroscopically identical with other Strobilurus - see description of Strobilurus esculentus. Differs from them microscopically in rounded (not pointed) cystidia on the gills. A characteristic non-microscopic feature, in comparison to also growing on pine-cones Strobilurus tenacellus, is a mild taste of pileal surface (not bitter).

W. Wójciak: Strobilurus tenacellus and Strobilurus stephanocystis in my photos are found growing together in pine forest with a mix of deciduous trees. Strobilurus stephanocystis in great quantities, Strobilurus tenacellus together with it, but considerably seldom. Based on my observations, Strobilurus tenacellus have visually darker cap and white gills with a bluish tint. Strobilurus stephanocystis have lighter-coloured cap, white gills with a yellowish tint (waxy). However, it does not constitute a rule. Sometimes the differences become slight, especially in mature specimens, and then they can be distinguished only under microscope.
