| pores |
Pory bardzo drobne, 4-7 na mm, 0.08-0.15 mm średnicy, regularne, ostrza gładkie.
Rurki w warstwach, zwykle ukośne, poszczególne warstwy 1-2 mm grubości, często poprzedzielane warstwką miąższu a starsze zarastające białą grzybnią.
Miąższ nad rurkami (łożysko) bardzo cienki, 0.5-1 mm grubości, jaskrawo-cynamonowe do umbrowocynamonowego; konsystencja owocników bardzo twarda, zdrewniała.
Sporocarps perennial, always resupinate (even on vertical substrata), with age pulvinate, extending along the trunk or branch, 20-300 mm long, 5-100 mm across and 2-25 mm thick; surface ginger-cinnamon, umber to snuff-coloured, colour similar to that of Phellinus pomaceus; old gray and with cracks; surface uneven, undulating; margin sterile, when young downy-tomentose, distinct, lighter-coloured, cinnamon-red, with age chestnut-russet, sometimes evanescent.
Pores very fine, 4-7 per mm, 0.08-0.15 in diameter, regular, edges smooth.
Tubes layered, usually slanting, individual layer 1-2 mm thick, often separated by a thin layer of flesh and older overgrown by white mycelium.
Flesh above the tubes cortex very thin, 0.5-1 mm thick, vividly cinnamon to umber-cinnamon; consistency of the fruitbodies very tough, woody.
zarodniki (Spores)
Spores subglobose, pointed, hyaline, thick-walled, with drops or granules, dextrinoid, cyanophilous, inamyloid, 6-8 × 5-7 µm. Bristlelike hairs few, rudimentary or more commonly none.
występowanie
Common. Sporocarps perennial, on the trunks and branches of living and dead hardwood trees, often on willow and hazel, seldom on conifers.
wartość (Importance)
Causes white soft-rots, also causing wounds on the trunk.
uwagi (Remarks)
Identical macroscopicaly is very rare Phellinus pseudopunctatus has thick-walled setae in the hymenophore, grows at warm sites on lying trunks and branches of hardwood trees, particularly oak and hornbeam. Phellinus pouzarii grows on fallen trunks of the fir tree, is very rare, flesh smells of soap. On the willow often grows Phellinus laevigatus, its fruitbodies are resupinate, with decurved margin, or form numerous tiny caps. On Frangula alnus grows similar Phellinus rhamni, this however has setae.
